Double Checking Voter Registration

utterli-image
I wasn’t on the list and they couldn’t find me in the computer. This was the 1st an only time since I became a registered voter that I had any trouble. They had to send me over to the phone girl to call in and check my registration. Notice there’s nothing high tech here. Not even a redial button on the phone. In the end, all was verified and ok.

Not on the List to Vote

utterli-image
I wasn’t on the list! I had my Voter’s Registration card but they didn’t have me on the list. I was sent over to the supervisor to see if she could find me in the computer. She couldn’t. It was a pretty tense few minutes.

Inside and Ready to Vote

utterli-image
Here’s the view from inside Precinct 329/379 in Hialeah, Florida. Short lines, friendly folks and everyone generally happy to be there and make their voice heard. Only a handful of people with voting issues that needed to be addressed.

Short Lines to Vote

utterli-image
There were very short voting lines at 8:45 AM. Almost everyone took advantage of early voting and it was obvious. It almost made me feel bad for the folks who waited in line for 9 hours to early vote. Almost.

Campaigning at the Polling Place

They were much closer than I would have like to have seen. No one there representing the presidential candidates though and there was a police officer to keep order.

Pulling Up to the Precinct

No lines wrapping around or running down the street @ 8:45 AM. That’s a good sign.
